You can round the edges off a character to make them more “relatable” or whatever, but you also run the risk of losing what defined them in the first place. The end result is bland and generic.

Pikachu – a little uncanny because an irl pikachu’s tail would definitely not look….like that, and poorly-rendered CGI animals with unnatural facial expressions will never be great. But ultimately not terrible, which is something I can’t say for most “pikachu IRL” designs. I also enjoy the detail of his stomach being white, and his paws and nose are fucking adorable. 7/10
Emolga – slightly uncanny in the same way as Pikachu, but still fucking adorable and not awful. Basically textured versions of the 3d nintendo models, and I can get behind that. 7/10
Dodrio – admittedly pretty blurry, but I like what I can see! 9/10
Charmander: again blurry, BUT HE LOOKS SO FUCKING CUTE 10/10
Psyduck: What the fuck am I looking at. It’s not the worst thing ever but it’s not good. 2/10
Bulbasaur and morelull: BULBASAUR IS SO FUCKING CUTE!!!!! and morelull is surprisingly cool so 10/10 for both (honestly? 11/10 for bulbasaur)
Jigglypuff: Haha funny nostalgia reference. 5/10 I don’t know how you’d make realistic jigglypuff look any better than this, but I don’t like it
Greninja: Ok I gotta admit. that’s pretty badass. 10/10
Charizard: God damn it, I don’t want to like it but its SO badass. 10/10
Squirtle: Lmao the screenshot I got of him makes him look like a ninja turtle. He looks cute tho, but I literally can’t tell what kind of textures he has on him. Granted I might be kinder to some of these Pokemon if they had no textures period but a no-texture squirtle doesn’t fit very well in this world. 9/10 the uncertainty makes me nervous but he still looks cute
Rufflet: RUFFLET!!!! his textures dont look very good but IDC because its rufflet and nobody ever remembers rufflet so 10/10 because rufflet
Mr. Mime: Horrifying, but that’s how mr mime is canonically. Simultaneously giving this a 0/10 and a 10/10 because it’s both the best design and the worst design
