He’s the first Westerner to become an official Pokemon designer and I’m glad he is because his designs are all cartoony and bizarre while still being visually pleasing
He was also the director and character designer for the 3DS title HarmoKnight, and honestly, I wish some of the characters in that game were Pokemon
There wasn’t really any point I was trying to make with this post, I just really like this guy’s art style and I’m glad he’s designing Pokemon now
Across the board, Maximum Fun podcasts do not provide transcripts with their shows. Without transcripts, whole populations (including deaf and hard-of-hearing folks, neurodivergent people, people with auditory processing disorders and more) cannot access audio mediums like podcasts.
Jesse Thorn, owner of Max Fun, has said that part of the reason for this is a lack of demand, and that he thinks deaf and hard-of-hearing people won’t find the humor in many of the podcasts by reading them. Not only is this incorrect, it puts the responsibility of accessibility onto disabled people. It also ignores the fact that for many, reading is the only way to access certain media like podcasts.
It is imperative that content creators build accessibility into their products from the start. Otherwise, they are sending the message that their work is for able-bodied people only. Jesse Thorn stated that he was willing to revisit his decision not to provide transcripts in the future. So it’s very important that Max Fun fans let him know: we care about accessibility! We want to be able to share the shows we love with disabled friends and family. We want transcripts!

Accessibility matters! That’s what we’re here for, but it shouldn’t solely be the audience’s responsibility to make that happen.
Let’s be clear, since the “defense of the song that sounds like a date rape in progress” posts have begun:
I know the historical context of Baby It’s Cold Outside. But if you think context doesn’t change in 70 years and that in this era of Bill Cosby ‘hey what’s in this drink’ isn’t creepy, if you think that in this era of Harvey Weinstein the constant barrage of pushing past a woman’s insistent no doesn’t have a different context for at least some listeners then I’m not sure what to tell you.
I don’t dislike the song because I know its history. I dislike it because of how it sounds in today’s contexts. I dislike it because my girlfriend’s drink was drugged in a bar and that was a terrifying night. I dislike it because I’ve had guys treat me the way that song sounds, and it makes my skin crawl.
The corollary to Let People Enjoy Things is Let People Not Enjoy Things. Not everyone needs to like what you do. Songs don’t have one universal meaning. That’s the great thing about art: it means different things to different people. If you enjoy it, I don’t understand that, but fine. Just don’t frame it as though everyone who hates the song does so because we just don’t understand the song’s history.
“The corollary to Let People Enjoy Things is Let People Not Enjoy Things. Not everyone needs to like what you do.”
I still say the most unrealistic part of Harry Potter was that there wasn’t a scene where Hermione found 16 year old Harry in a shopping cart on top of the Astronomy Tower while 16 year old Ron stood by with Colin’s camera because if the prophecy says that he has to die via Voldemort then that means nothing else can kill him ergo there’s no way this could possibly go wrong…
drink water!!!! dance in your room!!!!!! eat a lot of veggies!!!!!! dance as you do chores!!!!!! eat some fruit!!!!!!!! let yourself feel sad!!!!! have that $5 hot drink sometimes!!!!! try to smile even when you’re alone and doing some work!!!! listen to music that makes you happy when you’re feeling down!!!!!! we’ve all gone through crap and life might have more in store for us but we got this!!!!!
i don’t think people understand that people can ‘love’ you and not actually love you
like my grandmother ‘loved’ me, but she also was always trying to change me. she tried to take me away from my (catholic bisexual) mother. she made me wear dresses when i was there. she always tried to get me to go to church and was always asking me if i was dating a boy yet
i spent years feeling guilty that i wasn’t what she wanted me to be until my mom told me one day “she never bothered to know the real you”
and it’s true. any time i tried to show her something about myself, even cook for her, it would be dismissed, and a replacement would be offered. even northern food was somehow a sin.
she loved me what she thought i should be, she never loved me.
bc people who love you, they love you for all the stuff that makes you you. they never consider that it makes you inconvenient.
“It was true: the other mother loved her. But she loved Coraline as a miser loves money, or a dragon loves its gold.“
Loving someone like a prized possession is a very different thing from loving someone like a person you care about.
