These people are, in fact, actually evil and completely lacking in any sort of empathy for their fellow humans.

This is not an exaggeration.

Literally laughing at young children. Being tear-gassed.

There are Disney cartoon villains who wouldn’t even do that.

I know people like to say “nazis are people” but they’re fucking not, they’re daemons, and they want to create a literal Hell on Earth

Don’t look away from this. Don’t be silent. Hold them accountable, hold their supporters accountable. Make it clear that this is not right, not welcome, and that it is answerable. Force acquaintances and relatives who prop these people up to look at this, make them explain it to you. Demand they tell you why they’re okay with it so they have to say it out loud. Make them uncomfortable. Make them see it. Make them answer.

Isn’t this allegedly the party of Christianity? I’m pretty sure Jesus wouldn’t have approved of these actions and their reactions.

Girl is a cop

I’m not defending her or anything but honestly, what do you expect? She’s a mainstream American politician. She might be better than most but if any politician at this point ran on a platform of not deporting anyone then they’d instantly be seen as too radical and “idealistic” by the media and the general public. I mean it took us a very long time before most people got on board with the idea that having a health care system similar to basically every other first world country wasn’t too radical.

The context for this was that a 95-year old Nazi war-crime suspect who happened to live in the district for which she is running for Congress was finally deported (he was actually ordered to be deported 2004 but no country would accept him until now, when Germany finally agreed), and the GOP attacked her for it, and then when she clarified that yes, she still wants to abolish ICE but some deportation will be necessary, like the deportation of Nazis suspected of being war criminals, the left attacked her for that, because that makes her a cop.

always reblog, this is fucking activism folks

if you don’t have access to poorly-secured and un-backed-up debt records, you can help do this via legitimate means by donating to rollingjubilee.org – they buy debt (the way debt collectors do, for steeply discounted prices – like $20 to buy $500 in outstanding debt owed by someone) and just… forgive it, so it doesn’t need to be paid by the person on whom it’s a burden.

honestly i have saved a lot of hassle by specifically requesting to be treated by female medical professionals whenever possible

to clarify

  • there are plenty of good (and mediocre, and lousy) medical professionals of any gender.
  • institutional sexism is a big problem in healthcare. big problem. huge. also racism & other types of discrimination. women and minorities are statistically likely to receive worse care.
    • yes, female health professionals (like all women) are also capable of perpetuating sexism.
  • if you are perceived female, requesting that female professionals handle your care is a useful way to lower the odds that medical gender bias will get in the way of your treatment.

and here’s an article on how statistically female doctors have better patient outcomes & lower mortality rates (no matter the gender of the patient). the patients with the highest mortality rates? women treated by male doctors. one reason for this: female practitioners tend to spend more time listening to their patients, and are less likely to dismiss patient concerns

the final takeaway: whatever the gender, find a doctor who listens.

please reblog this version so people don’t get defensive. i’m not bashing on men, this is based on personal experience, research, and genuine concern.

^^^Good advice. Also, if they refuse to prescribe something/run tests you’ve requested, tell them to specifically write on your chart that you requested it and they said no. they will often reconsider.
