The midterms weren’t a one time thing.
There were record numbers of voters at the polls this November.
The Democrats have the house, the first muslim women and the first native woman were elected for Congress, the first gay man was elected governor, several states voted to raise minimum wage and protect voting rights, record numbers of women were elected.
A lot of good came of this election season.
I know we wanted Beto to take Texas. I know we wanted the Senate to turn blue. Those things didn’t happen.
But Beto came so close. We were within reach.
So now, we don’t give up because Beto didn’t win. We don’t give up because the Senate is still in Republican hands.
Now, we keep showing up.
We show up for every election and we keep making progress, little by little.
Because that’s how this voting thing works. You show up, you do your part, and together we make change.
So for every election, initiative, proposition, I expect you all to be at the polls.
Change will come if we make it happen.
