It’s really weird how people are trying to bring back discounted pseudoscience like physiognomy using computer algorithms and artificial intelligence while pretending you’re doing so under the guise of scientific advancement and not like, you know, making a giant society-sized bene gessaret torture box

I went digging through the article, and I want to point something out that hasn’t been mentioned yet

93-95% of men are straight. the algorithm can distinguish between gay and straight men 81% of the time

80-90% of women are straight. the algorithm can distinguish between gay and straight women 74% of the time

I just wrote a program in literally less than five minutes that takes a picture as input, does absolutely zero calculation of any kind, dumps the picture directly into the garbage, and immediately outputs “this person is straight”

it’s a full 10 percentage points more accurate than this stupid “facial recognition” algorithm
