The possibility of Netflix giving them lots of money to work with to make this a large scale production (because, let’s be real, if you want to do Avatar right, you really do need to make this on the scale of Game of Thrones).
The reason To all the Boys I Loved Before” was a Netflix production was because no one else would take the project if the lead was Asian, and if the cast was largely POC. Which means, we might get our large-scale POC casting.
The only caveat is that, in order for all this to work, Avatar needs a good, confident writing team, directing team, production team etc.
On the other hand, if this does well, if Bryke succeeds, if this reboot is nearly as good as the original, we can finally show certain critics who were like “original fans of the show who hated the movie were just nostalgic. The show probably was not as good, anyway.” why this show was heavily lauded, why the fans were made so upset by the movie, and why the show is repeatedly called “Game o Thrones for kids.”
