idk just like
dont debate. say “i cant make myself be pro hitler”
the core of a good debate is being confident that you’re arguing for the correct side, and you cant really do that if the side you’re on is the hitler side.
still thinking about this
like, literally anything you say can be rightfully and reasonably dismissed by the other side saying ‘yeah but what about all the jews he killed’ so what is the point of that aside from learning how to make the bad side of things look like a “necessary evil”, which is a shitty terrible skill because the only people who use it are people who personally benefit from the suffering of others OR are bigoted and want to see those they hate suffer while catching minimum flack from the opposition. so like. its a tactic only used when being a reprehensible person, therefore not something that should be taught in school.
i want to give the teacher the benefit of the doubt and just assume they were viewing it as “i want my students to learn how to play devils advocate for debating skill purposes, whats something bad? oh, naziism is bad! i’ll have that be the topic to defend.” but fucking hell they REALLY should have thought about that a little longer before putting it into action.
