As we’ve already established dinosaurs and the environs of the Wild West just belong together, it’s the most natural unnatural thing you will ever see.
Recently no artist has demonstrated this better then Shaun Keenan with his series of Old West Dinosaurs. I really love these pieces and rumor has it that Keenan is planning to compile them into a book at some point, which I will definitely buy.
The only complaint I have – and it’s a slight one – is that I find the image of people riding around on the backs of large therapods rather silly. If you look at how we have historically used animals for transportation we’ve never attempted to domesticate large carnivores for a variety of reasons. We do domesticate smaller ones – like wolves – for hunting and protection, but again not transportation.
