i love subverting gender through casual language usage. i love saying stuff like “heroine” for a gender neutral hero and seeing people lose it. i encourage other womyn to try out this practice. notice how using actor, landlord, fireman, policeman, etc., when talking about women garners no reaction. then, try out actress, landlady, firewoman, policewoman, etc. when talking about men and watch them have a meltdown, because the default for everything is man, and it shouldn’t be.
