What happened to George Takei’s sexual assault allegations?

the accuser has since admitted it wasn’t true after people started picking apart his story and finding inconsistencies. george takei has forgiven him.

unfortunately, with every movement, there is a chance for a liar to try to join. i feel terrible, because i initially believed it.

I’m both really glad that the accusations weren’t true but also really disgusted at the guy who accused Takei falsely

Accusing someone of rape falsely is not only one of the shittiest things someone can do as it can RUIN a persons life it’s also the kind of thing that makes it easier for people to dismiss the claims of ACTUAL sexual abuse/assault survivors

There is already ideas in our society that people “Make up rape claims all the time” (Despite this NOT being the case, the vast majority of claims are GENUINE and from ACTUAL victims) and when someone does something like this making up a rape claim against a famous person i’m assuming just for either fame or money or both it makes it harder for actual rape victims to get justice because it makes it easier for whatever scumbag lawyer the rapist has to sway the jury into thinking that the victim is lying

Like 99.9% of the time when someone comes forward and says they’ve been assaulted or harassed or abused they are telling the truth. But because there is this tiny minority of people who accuse others falsely of doing this shit people act like it’s the norm and that all victims of rape are just lying about it for their own gain. And it’s people like the shitbag who falsely accused George Takei that make it easier for people to believe this idea

Basically anyone who’d falsely accuse another person of rape to try and get money or attention or out of spite or whatever the hell this pricks motive was are essentially the actual Most Selfish Self Absorbed Person On Earth

the accusations against george takei weren’t 100% inaccurate, and i encourage everyone to read the observer article about the situation.

what it came down to was a gross misunderstanding due to the nature of gay culture in the 80′s. scott brunton was invited to takei’s apartment for drinks, which, at that time, meant drinks and then sex. brunton did not realize this, and takei backed off when he protested, and though there was disrobing, there was no gential groping. this was not technically a false accusation, and it was not out of spite. brunton wanted an apology, and the situation spiraled out of either of their control due to takei’s political enemies spreading the story. both parties have forgiven each other.

please do not slander or harass scott brunton over this. please be informed before spreading anything further.
