Okay but Garnet isn’t gay?

I mean, Ruby and Sapphire are definitely gay. 100% ultimate lesbians.

But Garnet is her own person, and that person is aro. The show has established that she isn’t interested in romantic relationships. And yes, that’s because Ruby and Sapphire are happy together, but the reason doesn’t matter. Garnet doesn’t feel romantic attraction and is therefore aromantic.

And I get that when people call Garnet gay, they usually mean that she is the walking manifestation of a lesbian relationship. Which she is! But aromantic people are too often marginalized, and it’s only fair that we recognize Garnet as the wonderful aro she is.
